Our Rooms

Colors abound in the unique and comfortable guest rooms, the eclectic dining and living areas filled with treasures and the perennial garden surrounding our home with vibrant camellias, palms, flowers and fruit. Nap in the hammock on the shady front porch, curl up with one of our hundreds of books in front of a toasty fire or stroll through the beautiful downtown Historic District that surrounds us.

All guest rooms in Camellia Cottage feature private baths, fireplaces, wireless internet and queen-sized beds. Our bath products created by Capitol Soapworks of Madison, WI, are actually made with camellia seed oil, a wonderful moisturizer, and contain no artificial ingredients or fragrances. To enhance the comfort of our guests and do our part for the environment, we use only baking soda, white vinegar and Murphy's Oil Soap as our cleaning products. To those with allergies, please note that dogs and cats are also welcome guests here. Let us know if you would like us to pick you up at the Wilmington airport.

Be sure to view the virtual tours for each room. You'll be able to see the whole room as if you are really there.

Cypress Room

A private suite on the second floor of our home. Dining Room

This is where it all happens! Sit down at the table in front of the fireplace. Take some time to admire Jane Meares MacMillan's hand painted tiles depicting the Aesop's fable, "The Fox and the Grapes". As you sip your coffee or iced tea and relax between courses, find the "puzzle piece" in Henry MacMillan painting over the buffet. The breakfast table is where new friends are made, stories exchanged and your vacation day begins. Find out what the other guests thought about that new restaurant, what brings them to Wilmington and possibly share their birthday cake. Linger over breakfast before heading out to work or play.

Living Room

Take a nap on the sofa, curl up and read a book or chat with other guests over a glass of wine - the living room is the place to unwind, slow down and relax. Take your mind off your troubles and fix it on the mystery painting suspended from the ceiling. Eclectic is the word for the furnishings here. Everything from old cameras and radios, huge urns, seashells, to family photos, Paula's father's accordion and books galore. Prominently displayed on the wall is the "Merman" - an antique Mexican parade piece that kids used to wear around their waist.

A lush, colorful perennial garden surrounds the Camellia Cottage. The intimate courtyard provides a beautiful stage for small weddings or other gatherings. Sit and watch the birds and butterflies under an arbor covered with fragrant jasmine. Pick some fresh blueberries or blackberries in season. Close your eyes and listen to the music of the fountain while gently rocking in the hammock.

Enjoy our unique, colorful mural while relaxing on the spacious front porch. Take a nap on the hammock, listen to the frogs cavorting in the pond or just watch the world go by.
